These terms apply to your use of this website. They are separate from the terms on which we carry out work for clients, which are set out in a written agreement for each engagement.

Using the site

You may view, download and print pages from this site for your own use or for use within your organisation.

The checklists, worksheets and other documents under Resources are there to be used. You may copy them and adapt them within your organisation, and share them with your suppliers. Please do not republish them elsewhere, or sell them, without asking us first.

You must not use the site in a way that damages it, interferes with other people’s use of it or breaks the law, and you must not attempt to gain access to parts of it that are not public.

Ownership of the content

Unless we say otherwise, the text, design, diagrams and code on this site belong to CodeFirst or are used with permission. Photographs taken from Wikimedia Commons are credited on the image credits page, under the licences stated there. Product names such as Microsoft, SQL Server and Windows are trade marks of their owners, and using them here does not imply any connection with those companies.

Information, not advice

The articles, guides, answers and comparison pages on this site are general information. They are written with care, but they are not advice on your particular situation, and they are not legal advice. Take advice of your own before acting on anything that matters to your organisation.

Support dates. The end-of-support dates on this site are taken from each vendor’s published information and are checked when the site is rebuilt. Vendors change their dates. Check the vendor’s own page before relying on a date for a decision.

Prices. The prices shown for packages and support plans are the prices we expect to charge for typical cases at the time of publication. They are not an offer. The price for your work is the one in a written quotation from us, and a contract exists only when both sides have agreed it in writing.

Calculators and tools. The cost calculator and the other tools give an indication based on the answers entered. Their results are not quotations and are not a substitute for looking at your system.

The end-of-support check script

The script offered on this site is free to download and use. It is designed only to read information from the machine it runs on, and the whole of it is published on the page so that you can check what it does before running it. It is provided as it is, without any warranty. You are responsible for deciding whether to run it and for what you do with its output.

Links to other sites

This site links to websites run by other organisations. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content or for how they handle personal information.

Our liability

Our liability for work we carry out for clients is governed by the written agreement for that work, not by these terms.
